Common questions

Short answers about what WhatsInYourMeds shows, what it costs, and your privacy.

What is WhatsInYourMeds?

WhatsInYourMeds is an app for your med list. You add your meds. It shows the ingredients their FDA labels list, including the "inactive" ones, called excipients. You can share your list with your care team.

What are "inactive" ingredients?

They're the parts of a medicine other than the active ingredient. Fillers, coatings, and colors are examples. Labels list them, but they're easy to miss.

How do I get WhatsInYourMeds?

You can't sign up for WhatsInYourMeds yet. Join the waitlist: leave your email and we'll tell you when it launches.

What does WhatsInYourMeds cost?

WhatsInYourMeds will start as a free pilot. It isn't open yet.

Where does WhatsInYourMeds get its information?

From FDA drug labels. A label lists a med's ingredients, including the "inactive" ones. That information is public. We organize it around your list, so you can see the ingredients across your meds in one place.

Is WhatsInYourMeds medical advice?

No.

WhatsInYourMeds shows what the FDA labels of your medicines list, and lets you share that list with your care team. It does not diagnose, recommend, or tell you whether a medicine is right for you.

For information and education only — not medical advice. Never stop, start, or change a medication without talking to your prescriber.

Why isn't there a tag on an ingredient?

We tag some ingredients that people avoid. Our tags can miss some. No tag is not an all-clear.

Can my care team see my WhatsInYourMeds list?

Only if you choose. You can send your care team a copy of your list as it is today. Once they open it, it's theirs.

You can also let someone you trust view your list as it changes. They sign in to WhatsInYourMeds to see it, and you can stop sharing at any time.

Does my care team need an account?

To open a copy you send, yes. Your care team opens it in ExciIQ, our app for health professionals. To view your list, someone you trust signs in to WhatsInYourMeds.

Does WhatsInYourMeds sell my data?

No.

Separated by design: the database with your meds doesn't know your name.

From our privacy story:

No ad trackers, no data sales, ever, and you can delete your meds and your account with one tap.

Can I delete my WhatsInYourMeds list?

Yes. You can delete your meds and your account from your account settings. In the app, open Me and choose “Delete my meds and my account”.

A copy your care team has opened belongs to them. Deleting your account doesn't delete it. Removing a single medicine leaves its label-update history until you delete your account.

Who makes WhatsInYourMeds?

WhatsInYourMeds is made by ExciIQ LLC, an Ohio company founded by Jeff Allen. It is a separate app from ExciIQ, which is built for health professionals.
